AR-15

I am looking to purchase a good mid priced AR-15 in 5.56. Any thoughts on manufacturers or sellers (Private or Dealer at this point)? Looking to purchase this because of the recent attacks on our 2nd Amendment rights. Please help a brother out!

Good luck!  I just bought one last week, and had a very hard time finding a quality gun and it was exspensive.  Hammers in Yakima had one left when I was in there....

I'm in the same boat, want to pick up an AR before they ban them.

What are the opinions on some of the gun's that are out there? as far as Stay away from, Awesome! or standard will do the trick.

I would want something that could be changed around, played with till i get it set up the way i want.

Help a guy out?

Olympic arms make some great Ar's for the money and so does DPMS. The ar's wont be on the hit list for a few year because of the bail out stuff right now. I would just order one and want of find a good deal on a used one.

Rock River, Bushmaster, Olympic, DPMS, Armalite, all about the same. Colts are good also but lots moe $$$$ (for thew name). Rock Rivers have a lot of options for the money. It all comes down to personal preference.

Most of them are exactly the same because they are to milspec.  All of their parts are interchangeable.  You just have to figure out what you want in a gun.  Ar15s are one of the most versatile guns out there, they can be accurate enough for precision shooting or can be built for clearing rooms.  The only ones that you really have to stay away from are Vulcan arms.  I think they have changed their name to blackthorne or something like that but they have bad news written all over them.  Also, stay away from the olympic arms plinker models.  As far as already assembled guns, dpms, bushmaster, rock river arms, colt, armalite, stag, noveske, eagle arms, and lmt are good, just to name a few.

No reason to avoid the newer Plinker Plus model form Oly, it's a good unit. The older model Plinker used a cast receiver but the new ones all use Forged stuff.

Then i stand corrected.  Did that solve their cycling issues?

Avoid Hesse.
ABC's are good bet (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt)
I have a Rock River that is fantastic.
Prices are crazy right now.
Maybe similar to high cap magazines a few years ago.
A magazine that cost $100 6 yrs ago can be had for $20 today.
You never know but you're buying into the frenzy.

You can order an oly k16 for around $830 or a k8 for around $900 but its a couple month want. Look around and dont pay more then there worth because thats what is driving the price hike and dealers

How much is a cheaper AR-15 lower unit?  I could then build it up in a later time.

good luck finding one, noone is selling new lower because they are all going in to complete rifles and if you do find one they seem to be running around 500 complete and a upper is 400+. Your better off getting a complete rifle unless you find a hell of a deal on a lower.
