His first bear/first ever hunt PIC ADDED

This week a pastor and his family asked if I'd take their 14 year old bear hunting and of course I said sure. As hot as it's been and with most of the woods shut down do to fire danger, I figured our chances of even seeing a bear were slim. We hunted for a couple hours every morning this week and didn't see anything but a few deer. Tonight I figured why not do a little calling, so off we went. First set we set up the spitfire with a fawn distress and within 5 minutes in comes a doe. We called for about an hour and nothing. So we packed up and headed to another spot. I figured we might have another hour at the most to call, so only set the call up about 50 yrds out from us. Well, I hear something pop about 10 yards off to our left and behind us, the 14 year old and his 12 year old brother heard it and looked at me and said, "Did you hear that?" and next thing I know out steps a nice bear. I looked at the young hunter and he had me and his little brother between him and the bear so I took the shot. I said plug your ears and 1 round from the new Grendel dropped him in his tracks. Waited for him to expire, field dressed him and then my little nissan quite running. Hmmm, that's a weird, never had a problem with it. Well, I discovered that the hot wire for the fuel pump snagged something and broke, so a quick repair and we were on our way. By the time we got home and got it hung and skinned out, it's now 2AM. Thankfully its cooling off quite a bit tonight so we'll get it all processed in the morning. Anyway, it's was a good ending to the week for this your hunter and now he's hoping he'll be able to come out and deer hunt with me this year. Pictures in the morning

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the photos. Good on you for getting another youth hunter out there.
