Didn't see a bear. Blues got snow, normally that's a sign of the bear hunting getting slow ( in our area anyway)

It's a weird year up there for sure.  Gonna warm up for a bit now though.  Any more trips planned?

You running any fall baits this year?  I put my first one out Saturday.  So far no visitors.  Good luck!

Have my daughters birthday this weekend , so I'll have grandparents in town.  But every weekend till it closes probably. I'll hunt deer in same area this year.
It is going to warm up, unfortunately I won't be up there.  38*degrees at trailer yesterday morn

No baits for fall, id like to and maybe some day. When season close in your unit? Do you wait to bait till natural food source is running low?

Closes Oct 31st.  I waited till it cooled down.  I put it out Saturday afternoon.  No visitors yet.  I only run one bait in the fall.  I will spend time glassing and calling in the mornings and middle of the day and then sit on the stand once they hit the bait.

Well, made it out this weekend. Had a bear at 246 yards. Pulled trigger and it rolled down out of sight. 20 min later he shows up in clearing and just beds down. I shoot again and miss ( judgeing by reaction to shot)
Runs up into trees and disappeared, comes out next clearing and can't make it a few steps without stopping.
At 345 yards I can't get the right hold to feel comfortable to shoot. I let him pass due to wind, and the fact I feel with another miss may push him farther.
Next morn dad comes up and look for it. Wind blowing and some hail, hard to look in moveing grass. We looked till 5:pm. Followed blood till it ran dry. Hate , Hate to loose a animal,But that's how it goes.  From this experience,I will practice more and teach my kids to practice so the odds of them being in this position will be less.  So, tag void . Bear season over.

That's tough n_mathews.

You hunted hard this year, and saw a ton of game.  Best of luck on the remaining hunts.

I screwed up a bear that guys would pay $ for. Eats at me if I dwell on it. BUT, I am glade it bothers me. The day a guy looses that anger and frustration on him self for causing that scenario, is the day he looses respect and a drive to better his skills for that animal
