Nice, is that a savage 24 in the bottom pic?

Yes it is. That is the first bird we've killed with it. It appears that the choke may be a little to "open". He missed with the 22 barrel, then took a shot where most of the bird was covered by a log. It then flew into a tree where he shot it again with the 20ga. Upon inspection, we discover feathers where he first shot it with the 20.

Those 24's are cool set-ups, but the barrels are commonly misaligned. One barrel or the other may be on target, but typically not both. You can sight them in and try to shim/adjust them a little, depending on if the barrels are free floating or welded. Good luck.
Step once, look twice...

I took my two boys last weekend, we were in some high elevation. Saw three Blue's. Missed shot. But it was nice seeing them. The boys had .22lr's and I was carrying the .410

I am thinking of taking my .22 revolver next time, if I don't go in higher elevation. Trying to lighten the load for wandering around.

Went out today on Nile 1600 roads and  NF625. It was a bust. Nothing but Elk all over. Boy had the .410 and I had the 12ga

Probably one of the best grouse seasons I have seen in a long time.  Could have easily limited limited three days in a row but was deer hunting and didn't want to shoot up the hillside.  Did bag two large blues though.

I've been testing different wild berry marinades for blue grouse. This one is for dinner tomorrow.

The other 3 grouse i got today are going to be made into grouse jerky once I get a few more.
