Alpine blacktails
« on: August 29, 2017, 08:35:29 AM »
I found an alpine area with a few bucks in it. Do you guys think they will still be around for fun season or will they be elsewhere chasing does?

Every season is a fun season! As far as GUN season goes, they will probably still be around as long as there hasn't been any weather to move them, but they will be a lot harder to find once their velvet is gone. The later into the season it gets, the more likely they may move down. If the does have moved out, they will most likely follow. If you are still seeing does around, they are probably not far away.

They will move into the timber once the velvet is off and won't be nearly as visible.

:yeah:
I've found that those alpine critters will call that area home until weather hits and/or does leave.

Good luck!

Sometimes they are and sometimes they arent :) here's one from last year, way high up and way late in season. Just head up and check when season arrives. Worst case you get too hike around the high county.

Every year is different. One thing you can count on though is any day now they will completely vanish until the rut. As others have said, if the does have moved so will the bucks.
