113 and 117 have the largest herds but the elk can be tough to find after a month of bear season, grouse, and archery, then another week of muzzleloader and two weeks of rifle deer hunters in the woods, all that really pushes these elk into their hiding spots and there are plenty of hiding spots for them to go. But these herds are slowly growing and there are some good bulls to be found. I'll send you a pm with a few areas to start looking.

The holy grail of information.   Best way to find them is to spend a couple nights out around midnite with your ears open.  They are expanding or spread out more, so you are more likely to stumble on them then in the past.   They aren't as vocal as they used to be. You can thank the wolves for that also.  Don't be disappointed if you don't get much info.  Most are very tight lipped about these elk.   I mean anybull without drawing a tag, and monsters at that.  Watch for trails coming off the banks.  Make sure you aren't tracking moose.  Good luck.

:yeah:  Night time scouting can be extremely productive.

I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.
