« on: August 25, 2017, 05:07:47 PM »
So what's everyone rifle choice for the 2017 season? I will be using this Smith Corona 1903a3 30-06 sporter with a Nikon Pro-Staff 4-12×40mm scope and 4" sun shade. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

6.5 Grendel   IT was never my first choice, and still might not be for every hunt, but after dropping a big boar with it it a last week, I like it.

CZ-550 American 6.5x55mm with 120gr Barnes TTSX bullets.  Scope is a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40.  Pretty basic, not super light weight, but should do the job.

Just realized this is a thread about what your using for bear..

I will be using mine for deer, oh well  ;)

I'll have a bear tag, just in case so you knows, maybe when it's said and done it'll be used for bear anyways  :P

I'm committed to using either my 338/375 Ruger Striker or the 480 Ruger to hunt with this year. Fortunately I have plenty of meat in the freezer left over from last year. :chuckle:

260gr Hammer Hunters at 2730 fps from the 338 mean that anything inside of any reasonable rifle range (and some not so reasonable ranges) will hit the ground. The 480 is good for everything inside of 75 yards.

May try old school this year for bear and elk with a neat Savage 99-358 Winchester I recently scored from the Cabelas gun library. Just depends on how it shoots.

I'm toting a 6.8 spc ii with an 18" triad barrel from ARP.

Has only taken deer so far but this year that will change.
