Caved in and "settled" for XDm in 9mm
« on: February 28, 2009, 02:10:05 PM »
I have been planning a semi auto purchase for a long time, and thanks to all the excitement lately regarding gun purchases I finally caved in. Thanks to all the input regarding all other makes on the other thread....but I decided on Springfield XDm in 9mm. Match barrel upgrade.

I wanted something old school, dual safety, double action... but I finally gave in to this concealed hammer way of thinking. I really was sold on the safeties built into this one, and like the loaded chamber indicator.

Cant wait to go give it a try, and yes, I bought before shooting it. My bad'!  It just felt right in my hand, first one that did. I am patient and dedicated and will learn the crap out of this gun.

Again thanks for any input, including other discussions about handguns here on this site, I am continuing to learn every day.

Ice
I am not a 9mm fan.  But the new Critical Defense handgun ammo from Hornady makes it a whole different ball game.  Even the 380 auto, with this stuff is mega potent.  Congrats on your new toy.  Bring it over for the youth turkey season.

Thanks guys. Twasnt cheap, for me anyway, $600. Normally I would now say that I need to get a better job, but all things considered, I feel lucky to have one. Jerber, you arent going to deal with those pesky yard fuzzballs with this are you? I carried the 9 for years, powerful enough. I will definitely check out that Critical Defense for around the home...

Ya know how you get that sick feeling after you buy a new gun, like you picked the wrong thing, or should have spent more....or less.... I dont have that feeling yet. I am a happy camper tonight.Just need to get out and get familiar with it now....

About those fuzzy things in my yard.  You shoot them.  I am getting to where I need help.  Are you and the kids coming over for the youth hunt?  I think I have a good idea where two really long beards hang out.

My son has an XDM that he REALLY likes...I'm still liking my S&W 3913 better....I'm an old fashioned Old School fart.  I have shot his and hit better with it than he does...but that is time in grade.

A plastic one piece cast paddle. Noisy, no retention level.

Nice choice, Iceman. I'm looking hard at the XD compact 40 myself. I'd be interested in which holster you end up with.
May the morning silence be broken with the wisp of vanes trailing blades to their mark.
