Illuminated Reticles in WA?
« on: September 04, 2017, 08:57:19 PM »
Sorry to post a question that may have already been covered, but a search did not yield any answers.

Can a rifle scope with an illuminated reticle be used for big game in Washington State, even if it's battery powered?  I'm not hunting here this year, just wanted to know for future reference.  My VXIII 3-18 that's on a 338/375 Ruger has an illuminated reticle.  It seems to me that at one point in time it was not allowed, but I don't seem to be able to find anything in the regulations now outside of Archer.
Thanks in advance,
Goshawk

It's legal. Never been illegal that I'm aware of.

They are legal because they don't project light on an animal.

WAC 220-414-010 Hunting equipment restrictions.
(1) It is unlawful to hunt deer or elk with the aid of infrared night vision equipment or with laser sights (not to include range finders) capable of projecting a beam onto the target, while in possession or control of a firearm, bow and arrow, or crossbow.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

WDFW Help section has info about it also:
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

Sarcasm: The ability to insult stupid people without them realizing it.

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity...

Sarcasm makes smart people laugh and stupid people mad.
