« on: September 06, 2017, 07:46:48 PM »
I am looking to float the humptulips river in a drift boat and was wonder if anyone had any suggestions on what part of the river to float. Where to put in and take out?? Any help would be great!

I haven't been there yet this year, but usually the kings will be stacking up in the lower river waiting for some rain.  Launch at the WDFW launch below Copalis Crossing and take out at the WDFW launch at HWY 109.  There isn't much water in the river, and you will probably have to drag the boat in a few places.  Blow through the first mile or so of river until you get to a sharp bend.  Anchor and throw roe below a float.  I use a simple cure of borax, sugar, and cherry jello.     It's a long float, and there is a lot of slack water.  I take my electric motor, so I don't have to row so much.   :IBCOOL:
Hunt hard and shoot straight!

The river is shut down until further notice. Look on line. No water in it until we get rain.

It really depends on when you go and water level.

Thanks for the information! I did not see in the emergency rule closing where the river is closed. I did see it said you can not keep wild kings this year on the river. 67 FPS is a all time record low for the river at this time of the year. I will wait until more rain comes. Just getting antsy to fish a river!

It's not a river right now, it's a creek.  :yike:

not closed, just wild chinook release.

i wouldn't waste my time there until we get some rain.  you'll be dragging your boat, or rowing where it's deep enough to float through...there's no flow!
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
