Padded footholds and Coyotes

So what does everyone like to use when it comes to padded footholds?  Do you buy ready made or improvise and make your own?  I am a big fan of MB 550 RJ and MB 650 RJ.  I would prefer not to use them at all as they are much harder on their pads than the cast jaw MB 550s and 650s, but they work well.  What is your favorite WA state coyote medicine?

I have not a lot of experience with permit trapping coyotes but some. I have both #3 soft catch and #1 3/4 soft catch. I think the #3s have the edge because of the larger area they cover but the #1 3/4 seem to be a good trap too.
I prefer cable stakes and a short chain but I did use them once with a 5 foot chain and drag. Did not see any difference in foot damage  which was essentially zero with either method of staking.

I like a wolf fang anchor on 1/8 cable, 18 inches long hooked up to 6 inches of chain with three swivels.  When I use a drag I use 10 foot of chain with 3 swivels connected to my drag.

I have not caught any permit coyotes but the MB650 rubber jaw held a large, toe caught beaver on a cable slide last year.  That was on a property damage permit.  That one weighed in at 54 lbs and wouldn't go near a cage.
I'm going to take the 650 RJ, and some Jakes to North Dakota this year.  Hoping to pinch a couple of high plain drifters.

I caught quit a few coyotes this spring in Seattle under permit.
I use the Victor soft-catch #3.  They work fine.
As for stakes, I will use either rebar or some cable type.  I would never put a coyote on a drag in the city or any city.
Stake um down tight, rebar stake short (6"-8") chain.
