Our GMU 249 "any elk" archery hunt was pretty much shutdown by the Jack Creek and Jolly Mtn. fires.  Season opens Saturday 9/10 with not many places with elk still open.  Doesn't help our High Hunt either.  Fires should go out this winter.  Estimated containment on Jack Creek is 12:00 am on Nov. 1st. (really)  Check the inciweb link.

This sucks. I have some cams up there. Lots of great area is going away. They drug their feet. Could have had it under control when it was only 400 acres.
