For the kids, I have few frog water type spots (deep slow pools) that hold a lot of salmon and using a slip bobber and jig is the key. Easy for kids. Less time dealing with snagged fish (pain the butt), flossing, and getting stuck in the rocks and losing tackle. If you can grab some FRESH LIVE sandshrimp, it can be like crack to the humpies - put the tail end or even the head end on the jig under the float

We need some rain and temps to drop for the bite to really pick up. Then the slivers will move in. Then the chums and eventually steelhead. River used to be really good for all of those. But not hardly worth the effort now days. One of the reasons I switched to hunting. At least humpy fishing with the kids is fun though
