Cowiche Muzzleloader Help!
« on: September 10, 2017, 12:35:34 PM »
Alright so I've only been elk hunting two times before and that was with my dad. Some of you may remember a post here several years ago about how aggressive cattle in Teanaway attacked someone and put him in the ICU. Well that was my dad, I was with him, and I haven't been elk hunting since.
I'd like to get back in the woods in a couple weeks, but this time I want to hunt Cowiche instead of Teanaway. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this unit? Last time I was there we stayed at Ahtanum meadows and hunted in the immediate area.
My girlfriend will be with me and this will be her second time hunting ever, so I'd really like to be able to get into some elk and show her how exciting it can be. Not to mention I need to put some meat in our freezer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the site!
I've had great luck using the search function and then asking questions based on that research. There is so much to learn on here. There are at least 161 hits for Cowiche in elk hunting alone.
There is not enough wilderness left in the world, or in the hearts of men.

Thanks. I did search, but what I found was outdated and there's talk of roads being closed and gates put up so I'm looking for up-to-date info.

Why don't you go over there and do some scouting for your hunt...?

Thanks, will do! Why does it say *censored* Rd?

Not sure just tried again and same thing. It's the slang term for a donkey

Get a good topo map of the area and check out any areas with water when you are scouting.

I thought there was no general season for muzzleloader in the cowiche
If it looks fishy, fish it. If it doesn't look fishy, fish it anyway!

Tried to head over there yesterday with my brother, but the smoke was so bad we just turned around. I'll be over there camping and scouting with my girlfriend next week, hopefully the smoke will be better by then.

Weather is changing,  should start getting some south/sw  flow and push some of that smoke out.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.
