Yes, the two big bucks were rutting(not just palying around, they were serious!).  the two 150 bucks were not and didn't look like they had any thoughts about it.  The three point the other gentleman had down the mountain had a swollen neck.  That was one of the first questions they asked me because his neck was really swollen and they were caping him out.  I hope he shows up on here.  It was a  Nice three point.

Hey Bone , do  you hunt by yourself all the time, or is this just a secret hole you dont want your buddies to find out about.?  Just curiouse because most good hunting I do is by myself.

I almost always hunt by myself.  If I ever hunted with anyone other than my Dad, I just considered it a social thing, and threw the thought of success out the window.  Not very many folks have the drive that I do and go tot he extremes that I do.  I also think that success is cut in half when you add another person.

Thats how I feal too! Thats why during early archery elk , I try and get my wife a elk so I can hunt on my own the second week when the action is better .

Dang nice buck!! That must have been some nice stress release. That looks like a sweet little honey hole you got there. You've got to be the most driven guy have ever heard of, most would have quit the first time they coughed up blood. Congrats on the excellent hunt and good luck tomorrow on you scope.

I would rather bowhunt than rifle hunt. I like the challenge and thats what makes hunting fun for me.  The way the state is set up though, I have to select what tag I want before I apply for late tags.  The late tag that I am after is a late rifle tag therefore I have to select modern.  I quit bowhnting a few years ago for that reason.  Then I found out I could use my ow during the modern season with a modern tag.  Since then I have killed 3 nice bucks with my bow, two for two with the Trad bow.  Where I go, competition isn't too much of an issue.  Its just you don't get to shoot across basins and into the rocks, you have to go after them. Makes for a VERY satisfying kill when successful.
