I'm not quite as far back, my first real bow was a bear instinct and it's still my only bow. I got to shoot it everyday in high school and I had a couple buddies who shelled out two or three times what I did that couldn't shoot groups close to mine. Taking it out in a few weeks for deer.

My first was a Martin Cougar, it was heavy but shot well, replaced it with a Matthews Zmax that was lighter but I didn't shoot it any better then the Martin which was half the price.

those first bows make good carp slayers

I turned my into a fishing bow, it had a wood riser and looked a lot like the browning previously posted.  I sure shot a tun of fish with it

This is my very first 'real' bow. i bought it with money I earned on my paper route and I'll tell ya, it took many months to earn $49.95. It's a Red Wing hunter, 45#@28" and still shoots as nice now as it did in - gasp- 1963. To close the circle of life, I plan to use it get my deer this Fall.... my 70th year.

That.  is cool

Good luck!

Mine was a Jennings I bought from Garth at Fidalgo Taxidermy, it was his brothers. I killed three blackies in a row with it. Then went back to modern to teach my kids how to hunt.  :archery_smiley:

Now I hunt with a recurve for grouse to no avail.  :chuckle:

I tried grouse and rabbits with a recurve one weekend. All I got out of it was a trip to buy more arrows  :chuckle:

I've only lost one, I use judo tips so I don't loose to many.  :chuckle:
