Elk Hunters Be Aware!
« on: September 15, 2017, 10:12:32 AM »
Just got this email:

Recent changes require hunters to leave the hooves of harvested elk at the site of harvest

Elk Hunters Be Aware!

Elk hunters in western Washington should be aware of recent changes to WAC 220-413-200, which requires hunters to leave the hooves of harvested elk at the site of harvest in game management units 407, 418, 437, 454, 501 through 564, 633, 636, and 642 through 699. The intention of this rule is to reduce the potential for spreading treponeme-associated hoof disease (TAHD) of elk to new locations. For more information on TAHD, see page 64 of the 2017 Big Game Hunting Seasons and Regulations pamphlet or visit http://wdfw.wa.gov/conservation/health/hoof_disease/

If you successfully harvest an elk in western Washington, please inspect the hooves from the elk you harvested and note if, in your opinion, the hooves appear to be deformed or exhibit any abnormalities.

You will be requested to submit this information in your annual hunter report to help WDFW understand the distribution and prevalence of treponeme-associated hoof disease of elk in western Washington.

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Cool ! More paperwork ! Now we're really hunting , watch this stuff get taken off the yoogler cuz we might impact wallet raiding efforts for next year , for those fools buying into the woods next wonderfully elk season dreams. Leave the hoofs ,, here shut up and say it's over already , so we're supposed to spend money on paperwork , spend money on equipment , spend money on vehicles , gas food beer , shoot a elk and then hope the hoofs won't kill you just buy touching them !!!??? What the H.   E. Double hockeysticks is next s.t.d.'s eye infections or lactose intolerant gut piles ,,, I freeeeegn give up ! I'm going golfing !

Just be careful that you aren't golfing on a course where limping elk hang out.......you might get infected with hoof rot when you are in the weeds looking for your balls. :chuckle:

Edit - Autocorrect got me.

So we have to fill all of this out,  when do they fill out our responses as to the progress being made to go after the timber companies for using the pesticides? Oops sorry that came out loud didnt it?
Some animals WERE harmed in the making of this Hunter. They were also dragged through the dirt, butchered and tasted delicious fried with butter and bacon.
