I could be wrong , but I believe those come from a plant.
I always wondered what they were. Tracked a shot bear once and came across a small plant ( flower of some kind if I remember right)
Been wishing I had taken a pic of it ever since

They look like mountain ash...Those trees with the big orange clusters of 'berries'.

Id say the first pile is kinnikinnick or more common name "Bear Berry". It's an edible low ground cover plant that likes drier forested areas with single red berries all over it.

Mountain Ash is not endemic to Washington, so if we're arguing about which red berry is in the poo, the nod goes to kinnikinnick/bearberry.

Lots of mountain ash in the Cascades. Norm Trapp from up on Stevens pass provided a horse packing service and I had him pack me in 5 times to the Frosty Pass-Marys Pass area. He said that after the hucks were gone the bear would start feeding on the Mountain Ash which were plentiful in the area. ALL the drainages had mountain ash. I've seen them, saw mountain ash berries in the poo , and would glass clumps of mountain ash trees/bushes for bear. Not arguing just plain simple facts.

The bears that keep leaving poo in the road have been chowing on apples and blackberries.  I do not know if bears poop in the woods but they sure as heck poop all over the roads.
