I'd love to tell you the story of how I called him in and he was screaming in my face but that's not at all how it went down.  I bumped a cow and ended up between her and this bull that was on her trail and he walked right to me 30 yards away.  I made a aweful shot not sure in my arrow deflected off something or what but the shot was way back.  Had a great blood trail for such a poor shot.  Gave the bull 2 hours before we starting tracking ended up bumping him 3 time seeing him twice but no shot opportunities before we lost light and the blood trail.  Back on the trail the next morning spread out and searched the area to pick up the blood trail again.  Found little drops of blood and then a dead elk in his bed about 1/4 mile from where we last saw him the night before.  I feel pretty luck to have found him 26 hours after I shot him.

You're a great hunter, DRock.

Stuff happens, but you followed up and tracked him down. 1/4 mile is an insanely long distance to find an animal from shot location. Great work.

Great job tracking him down!!

How were the hornets in your area?  I was in the panhandle and the baldfaced and yellow jackets were very bad.  Baldface so aggressive you could not get to a kill after that amount of time, they even had the yellowjackets chased away and none on a carcass.  Snow came in a few days ago though, should end that issue for the guys still in camp.

I think the true hunter  can track an animal that there was a marginal shot on....

Good job tracking Drock  and nice bull!
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
