My chocolate lab Belle retrieved her very first bird today! She was super proud of herself! All the time and training paid off beautifully!

Very nice, once labs get on a bird it seems like they won't forget it.  I was slammed at work and didn't work our dog all off season and took her out cold for the youth hunt.  Once the gun went off, she sat until released and ran out like it was just yesterday she had her last retrieve.

I know what you mean, after the bird things seemed to just click for her. Don't get me wrong she was enjoying being outside but once she got that bird you could tell she wanted more!!!

And thanks guys! Hopefully Y'All are having a good season too!!!

Congratulations, there is nothing quite like that first one with a young dog. I always call it the light bulb moment. Sometimes I think I  see them turn their head back at me and I see that toothy grin.
