.22 mag ammo suggestions
«

I just bought a .22 mag and can't decide on the 30 grain v-max or the 40 grain hollowpoint. Primary use will be rodents and the occasional coyote. Any input would be appreciated.

I shot a .22 mag for a number of years and found the winchester supreme 34 grain hollow point shot well in my rifle it was devastateing on small rodents and worked about as well on coyotes as one could expect from a.22 mag. nice to see another selah guy.

In my 22. mag i shoot CCI full metal jackets 40 grainers! There really accurate! I use them mostly for shooting cottontails and the ocassianal yote! I like them cause they dont blow the rabbits to bits and pieces!

CCI 40 gr hollowpoints shoot best in my Remington 597M. The Winchesters do not pattern well at all. Would like to try Hornady's v-tip...everything I've shot from them works great. Enjoy, you have the best close range varmit cartridge...

My Marlin shoots the 30 gr CCI V-Max very accurately. Ultra destructive on any small varmint, but I would not recommend them on coyotes, or rabbits if you want the meat.

40gr JHP CCI's seem to shoot well in my .22mag. They have killed a few varmints and preformed well.
