As some remember, I shot one on the 7th day of my spring hunting but I was unable to locate it.
Come fall, I had gone out again and again, but with no luck. This is a Kitsap County bear, only 40 minutes from my house. I was planning on a short morning hunt and didn't really expect to find anything. I got to the end of where I was going to hunt and started to head back to the truck. Then, I saw a black stump that moved.

But then, it was gone. I looked all over on this big hillside and saw it again, but then it disappeared again. Eventually, I got a good lock on its location and watched it for several minutes to make sure there were no cubs. Never saw any cubs, made a 300-350 yard shot and hit it in the spine in the neck. It dropped like a rock. I was hunting by myself so the pack out was a lot of fun.

This hillside was COVERED in berry bushes and had LOTS of sign. Now I know where to go next time.
