Pictures are always needed yes.
Mine is a 1966 Winchester model 94 .30-.30 and I do have love for it. I saw you'd mentioned for deer hunting only but this is a deer so why not? It does have the ability to knock over the worlds largest deer from over a hundred yards with one shot.
So yep it's a cool gun

Ah yes, the Ol' Dirty 30. I  hunt with 2 , a Marlin and a Winchester. Love them both.

Hornady's Leverevolution is a great choice to extend the possibilities of this rifle.

Having had both the Winchester 94 and the Marlin 335, I prefer the Marlin with the side ejection plus it just fits me better.  The 30/30 round has been around a loooong time and is here to stay. It is a fine deer or bear cartridge with in it's limits just as some other calibers are limited.

My Marlin 336 will go to one of my sons when I cash in my chips, it has belonged to all three of my bothers before I acquired it years ago in a gun trade. The Winchester I bought it and sold it shortly after buying it.

I own a Marlin 336 30-30 Cowboy Model with a 24" octagonal barrel. I put a Lyman peep sight on it and it is very accurate at 100 yards. My wife loves the gun and a friend couldn't get over the gun's accuracy in comparison to his 7mm Rem. Mag. at 100 yards at the range.

Looks like there is some love  :chuckle:

Thanks guys!

I'm looking forward to getting back to the range with my old 30-30.  Should be a fun time shooting it again, it's been toooo long.

Great gun and I killed a bunch of deer with it in my youth. Unfortunately my eyes don't work so well with open sights anymore and I don't care for the way a scope has to go on the 94.

My problem too. I installed fiber optic sights on one of my 94s last year after using them on my muzzleloader for a few years.  Working good for me. I'll use my scoped Ruger .06 this year when hunting clearcuts for blacktails, but will use my old 60's era 30-30 when I go in the brush.

I have two Model 94s - my grandfather's that he bought in 1945, and another of unknown vintage that is really my son's (passed down from his maternal grandfather).  I have taken several deer with my grandfather's, he had a 2x Redfield extended relief scope mounted on the barrel, I took that off as I didn't care for the look.  Now that my vision is going the way of other 50+ aged hunters, I will probably put a peep on the rear.

I always felt the observed terminal performance greatly exceeded the rather anemic ballistics, most of the deer I shot with it dropped in their tracks.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
