Peola Doe hunt (GMU 178)
« on: September 29, 2017, 09:27:29 AM »
I drew a Peola doe tag this year for a November hunt and was wondering if anyone has access to land in this unit or knows of others who do that would be willing to allow my son (non-hunter) and I to take a doe. I am getting by on the G.I. Bill (WSU) right now but don't have much cash, however I would be willing to trade fish (halibut, black bass, salmon, smoked salmon, yellow eye, sturgeon, ect) or duck for a couple hours of hunting. Additionally, I would also be wiling to help with picking up litter, or other tasks needed on the property. Please feel free to PM me if you can help me out.

Tough unit, as far as access. My only recommendation would be looking into to the Weatherly access area. Not 100% on that one, but may be a place to start. Good luck

I've never been there, but looking at On X, if I had that tag I would hit the state land north of Charley Creek Road and the Asotin Creek Wildlife Area.  There is also the Wooten Wildlife area, outside that, public access is grim.  I don't know if any of those spots are special areas that are off limits, so check the regs.

There are 6 areas on the WDFW Private Lands Hunting Access page, about half reservation.  Those are worth looking at as well.

Between those two methods, a guy should be able to scratch up a doe.  There are so few areas, I wouldn't scout until I had a rifle in my hands, in a 3-day weekend you could probably hit all the public areas.  I would try the best looking reservation site, hit it at daylight and then hit nearby public areas in the pm.

White tail or Muley? If it's white tail, it will be a little more problematic for access.

Its for "any doe" so it could be muley or whitetail. I would prefer muley but am not picky just hoping to have a god hunt with my boy.
