I will be if I am not helping my bro on the ML elk opener. I haven't seen much for quail yet this year so I am tempering my expectations. Good luck out there all!

Probably won't be out for the opener, but will do a lot more hunting this year than last. Crossing fingers Sophie stays healthy and doesn't tear another ACL.

 :yeah:

Will be out chasing them around, numbers are great! Quail didn't do well with the first hatch, but came back strong and have seen 4th hatch on the farm. Hearing good things for both Huns and Chukar numbers as well!

Should be the best Quail season in decades.   Huge survival in multiple hatches.

haven't noted chukar or huns.   Id think theyd share the same success.   I had lots of roosters around this spring but no hens.   No babies in my neck of the woods

How wary should one be of rattlesnakes while looking for Q,C,H? Would it be  better to wait for some colder weather? I have a one year old shorthair who's curiosity is a little high and I'd like to keep him around for a few years.

Put in 7 miles Sunday scouting, didn't encounter any. Haven't killed one on the farm since August, and it was 37° this morning, so I am thinking you should be pretty safe.

A local bio told me that if you are in rocks you should find snakes. If you are in brush and sand, should be no or almost no snakes.

I'll be out all weekend.  Morning and evening will be trying to fill my muzzy deer tag, and upland during the heat of the day.

I found some good spots for some quail. So my mind has been made now.

Excited to get the boys out with me.

Stay out of the rockslides and rimrock and you should be fine.   We froze night before last and it's been much cooler.   Now if you see a snake , you'll probably find a hundred of them if you know what I mean
