Vx-3 b&c or?
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:50:20 PM »
Anyone have experience with the Leopold vx-3 boone and Crocket 4.5x14x40/50? Seems like it would pretty fast go get on target if below 600yds, but I don't understand how it comes calibrated for all makes & calibers. A 200yd drop on a 300wm would be different than a 22-250.
Another consideration is going with something like a vortex viper & running a custom turret.

Thougts?

I prefer Leupold optics. The glass seems to perform better in low light then Vortex.

They both have the same warranty.

I have had the BC reticle and I liked it. Leopold also can make custom turrets.

A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

Custom turrets with that reticle might be overkill. Its got elevation & crude windage built in, but i would consider a different reticle snd turret.

The b&C isn't calibrated for all calibers.  It is close then you need to plug in ballistics and do a dope chart.  Being second focal plane you can usually lower scope power to get the B&C reticle to be very close to being on for the designated hash marks.  For the hash mark scopes to work you do need to know your actual MV and plug in a few numbers.  They are not as plug and play as they make it out to be but they do work very well and I prefer the hash marked scopes over turrets.
