Off to Idaho tomorrow!!
« on: October 05, 2017, 08:25:26 PM »
Well after my dad and I had a great year last yeah in ID, we are headed back tomorrow.  We'll be there a little earlier this year and have my brother going with us this time.  Last year was my first bull and my dads first elk.  I had shot a few cows before but the only bull I had a chance at I missed about 5-6 years ago. Hopefully we can get my brother his first elk this year.  Will update when we are back on the 17th or so!

Good luck, I'll be missing out this year for the first time in a long time.  Had a falling out with my hunting partner, sucks cause we were 6 for 6 on bulls.  Have fun and enjoy Idaho! Keep us posted.

Well back from Idaho this afternoon.  I got a spike Sunday morning and that's all for the 3 of us this year.  I think my brother may go back one of the next two weekends to try again.  Overall 1 out of 3 isn't bad at all in my books. All in all it was a good time and that's what really matters.

Good job!
Where were you hunting?
My brother in law and his friends were NE of McCall, moved camp once, hunted two areas saw almost no deer. He finally found a herd with 2 bucks in it, he got a 4x4, a buddy shot the fork. 5 days and 12 deer...he said he would not go back.

We were east of Lewiston.  Met a group of guys that had been down south near Salmon before the season opened looking for deer.  They weren't seeing any deer and decided to move north and ended up tagging 6 bucks for their camp. We saw lots of deer and I saw a couple bucks that made me consider spending the extra $300 for the tag.
