Hunting Cougar
« on: October 12, 2017, 10:04:24 AM »
I just got access to some sweet properties in the 215 Unit. Never been there, but I was told to also get my Bear and Cougar tag. Bear pretty straight forward. Cougar there is a line call the harvest guidline. Just to clarify,I've never hunted cougar, this is how many animals in this unit that can be taken? So how do I find out an updated number while hunting to make sure I'm legal to take a cougar if I see one. Any help greatly appreciated. After i get some answers I will tell you what WDFW told me.......
Is it waterfowl season yet..............

From the 2017 regulations booklet, "It is each cougar hunter’s responsibility to verify if the cougar late hunting season is open or closed in hunt areas with a harvest guideline Cougar hunters can verify if the season is open or closed by calling the toll free cougar hunting hotline or visiting the Department's website.  The hotline and website will be updated weekly beginning January 1."  To me, this reads that before January 1 it is safe to assume the guideline has not been met so go kill a cat!  I hope this helps & good luck!

Cougar season is open til dec 31. If the harvest quotas for specific gmu's havent been met by then it will continue to be open til the quota is met. If the quota is met by dec 31 than it closes dec 31
