Well, supposed to rain/slush quite a bit this weekend where I'll be hunting. As in over an inch on Saturday and over 0.5 inches Sunday.
I found several pockets of does that I spent a lot of opener and Sunday glassing around, but they were on open, south-facing slopes browsing bitterbrush and elderberry. Picked out one small forkey and spike, no legal (or mature) bucks to be found. Assuming that they won't be alone the next couple weeks. The forkey was lip-curling already and starting to push some of the does in the group.
Any thoughts as to how deer behavior will change would be appreciated. Will they change elevation, aspect, times of movement... Was planning on glassing the same basins I found the does in, maybe still hunt some bigger timber, and keep my eyes peeled for shiny antlers from the rain! I found numerous buck beds that get used annually, but are pretty exposed.
