Sheep Hunting and snakes

I'm curious most of the places sheep live there are lots of rattle snakes  The people who have hunted rams what precautions do u take to not get bite from a rattle snake   I was in a sheep area couple of weeks ago and saw 5 rattle snakes on the road made me think if I got drawn how would I deal with the chance of getting bite.   thanks for any input  I'm trying to prepare myself if I ever get drawn or help someone get there ram

Put in go the late tag if there is one or wait for the sheep to get out of the snake areas. Clemans sheep are only near snake dens half of the time.

 Man up and hunt don’t worry about snakes. People see and hunt around snakes every year walk around them and leave them alone. The only time you here of someone getting bit if they are screwing around with them.

Knock on wood but I haven't seen a snake during my time in sheep country yet.

When I hunted clemans for sheep years ago I made almost a dozen scouting trips throughout spring and summer and didn't see a single snake. Then during the hunt still nada.

Seen two during our scouting trips and one during the hunt on the pack out. Be careful in the canyon bottoms and really rocky areas, other than that don't worry about them.

Didn't see any on my Sheep hunt in Chelan.  I know they are around but I didn't worry about it, I had more pressing matters.

Just hunt before 10 am, you’ll be ok.   

Ps.  Know what poison oak looks like.  I saw a Yakima river hunter standing in a patch of it.   I wonder if he is itching yet.

I know two people who were bit when walking through brush. One near wenas lake and another up waterworks.

I've hunted Mt Hull and Chelan Butte quite extensively seen many Rattlers on Hull, never any issues, they let you know when you're getting to close...

I wouldn't worry to much about getting bit by a snake, or drawing a sheep tag for that matter. do deer and sheep get bit by snakes? and does it effect them like humans?

If you can tolerate a story from 50+ years ago read on. 
My future father in law borrowed his daughters horse for a back country sheep hunt, came home short one horse, hers.  Seems a rattler in the trail upset the beast, rider made it off without damage but the mare pitched herself off a cliff, very dead very fast.  Be careful out there

this year on clemons  sept 15 -21 was cold with one day about an inch of snow did not have to worry about snakes

I did see one up top of Chelan Butte last year.  They don't bother me much tho.  I think people worry too much.

I think the snakes are mostly lower down where the sheep are less likely to be.  I've spent about 6 days total wandering around on the sunny side of Clemans looking for deer within the last month or so, coming from the top, and haven't seen or heard a single snake. 

My wife took our dogs on a hike up waterworks canyon a week ago and saw 3 rattlers within the first mile before she turned around so as not to lose a dog...

IMO, the risk is higher being in a vehicle than having a firearm or dangers in the field.

Lot's of snakes where we deer hunt, killed two and saw 4 this year. I think they add a sense of adventure to the whole thing. One of the snakes we killed this year had 12 rings on his rattle.
