Buck Down
« on: October 18, 2017, 10:13:04 PM »
Started my season Sunday afternoon. GMU 124.  Im fortunate enough to have an uncle with a nice piece of land 10 minutes from my house.  My deer adventures on this land is more of a harvest than hunt.  Basically sit in the blind until something walks out in the alfalfa field.
First afternoon I counted over 30 doe pass through.  1 forky and two spikes.  Very entertaining to see the sheer amount of animals.
Next morning I was in the bin at 5:00 am.  Sat around until light and there wasn't an animal to be seen.  Not even a squirrel.  Erie silence.  8:30 I see movement from 9:00 and thought it was a bit doe 350 yes out.   As it began making his way to towards me it was evident it was not doe I thought was.  Walking with  head down i ranged him at 215 yards out.  Put the rifle on the sticks but decided to wait a bit longer.  He kept coming until I could wait no longer  At 165 yds i let the 30.06 fly.  Knocked him down and he two kicks to the sky.  My best buck thus far in my short youtube taught hunting career.
Now if I can figure how to put an arrow in a cow elk during late season I will consider myself a "hunter".

Awesome looking buck.  It takes a lot of patience to lay low and wait.  Let those bucks come to you.  Bonafide hunting if you ask me.  I wish I had that much patience.  Congrats!

Beautiful buck!  Being a hunter and hunting is all about what you make of it and spending time outside away from the hustle.... Looks like you've got it figured out to me!  Congrats

Finding a good spot and sitting still with some patience is hunting, especially when it comes to whitetail.  I'd be proud of that buck any day of the week.  Having an uncle with land is a blessing for sure.  Congrats man.
