Wet optics while BT/Roosie hunting!
« on: October 19, 2017, 07:39:03 AM »
What do you vetran BT and Roosie hunters do about optic in the rain. I have used scope covers and an enclosed bino harness in the past but they fall short when it is nasty all day, and sometimes I think they retain the fog longer. What you say fellow wetsiders? covers or wide open or other?

Use a lens coating and you don't have to worry. Mtn Ops or Cat Crap work and you can take them out with you in case they need a little more later in the day.

No-Fog Anti Fog Cleaner and I use a Badlands binocular harness.  My biggest issue is when I have a face mask on and the vapor from my breath rises right up behind it and fogs the rear lense.

I have the Badlands harness and if I don't use defogger, especially in the rain, they're useless.

Bingo JD and Piano Man.  I use the Badlands cover and I've used the cat crap in the past ,when the Badlands gets saturated it kind of is like a steam generator so it sounds like I'm on to it but looking for other tips and tricks keep them coming.

Can you defog multiple lenses with each of these wipes - glasses, binos, and scope with one wipe? They're not cheap at about 50 cents each.

I thought the anti-fog solutions were harmful to the coatings on the lens???   :dunno:

You are b/t hunting... You don't need binos. Just look down, or 15' ahead.  :o

Thanks all. Jakeland, do you use scope covers or just the lense treatment?
