Wet optics while BT/Roosie hunting!

both and I've been using these for a long time and no issues!
And anyone that hunts blacktails knows how important your optics are!!

Never taken a BT at more than 20 yards.

Thanks Jakeland.  I've been fighting the fog for the last week.  Even holding my breath as I glass doesn't always work.  The heat and wet from my face fogs the eyepieces.  Also, when I sit and forget to throw them to my side, they hang down near my crotch and fog the objectives.  It's always hot!

Anyone ever try Rain X?
I was thinking, if it works on cars, why not scopes?
I might try it soon and see. I don't know why it wouldn't work......

Windshields aren't precision optical glass. I wouldn't even try it.

Rain-X also works with speed, you need to be driving to have it work.   I have an old 1950 Chevy truck and it didn't work that well on a more vertical windshield, but on my Silverado it works fine. On my wife's rig it looks like you smeared vasoline on the window - was a major PITA to remove too. Personally, I wouldn't try it on a scope.

Old Timer taught me to use plain old shaving cream for defogger.  Rub on all your optics ... bino's, scope, range finder lenses.  Lightly Dry Wipe with tissue until all shaving cream gone and clear.  Leaves invisible protective film or sheen on lenses.  Have experienced no clarity issues or anomalous refraction.  Re-apply after each day's hunt.  Not sure if any one brand works better than another... Barbasol Shave Cream seems to be as good as any.  Would NOT recommend using the Gels.

I use the original style, Badlands "Mag" binocular case, spray the whole thing down with tx-direct Nik wash spray, and be mindful to bend over slightly so your head blocks to the rain when you open it.  I hunted all day long today in torrential downpours and my Razors stayed 100% fogless. The trick is making sure you don't use the bungy straps on the case. Remove the binos and close the flap while you glass. The full magnet is strong enough so you won't have to worry about the binos falling out. For the love of God do not put any anti fog products on quality glass. Ever. Period.
