Curious. Who Packs a Handgun While Hunting?
« on: October 20, 2017, 07:58:50 PM »
I am curious as to how many hunters pack a handgun while hunting and what is the reason? Are you hunting game with it or are you carrying it for self-defense? What do you pack?

I carry a handgun hunting, for self defense. As in 4 legged animal self defense more than anything. Of course as a last resort after trying to not be in a situation like that in the first place and also next choice is my rifle. Last resort is my glock 20sf in my drop leg holster.

Always, don’t leave home without one (except I can’t have one at work).

You bet I pack when hunting.   I have a Ruger GP100 6.5" .357 mag.  Self defense against bear and cougars when hunting archery for deer or elk.  I always get all 4 tags too.

Kimber 45 in a Miami Classic holster, so when I have to, you know, in the woods no buckles or belt holsters to contend with  :)

I pack a Glock or a XD most of the time. (a) because I can, (b) personal protection. I have several occasions when I wished I had one but didn't, and (c) I had a game warden tell me he would never go it to the woods with out one and that was good enough for me

I carry my glock 30 with me every day period. Weather I’m hunting or not
I don't always shoot big mule deer, but when I do, it's with a bow tech!

All the time! Beretta 92FS with 147 grain bullets. It also helps to pop some grouse on my way back.

Sometimes. Lately my main carry is my rifle it's with me every day so long as there is something legal to tag out on.

When I carry a pistol it's just a 22 but I sure as heck wouldn't survive getting hit with 30 rounds out of a 22.  Maybe you all are tougher but that is a lot of holes to plug.

I carry cuz I can, not for self defense really but more because it's a right I choose to exercise.
