Huckleberry Whitetail Rut timing?

Ugh. I had just made up my mind to go late, but my wife pointed out that my twin daughters have their first basketball tournament that weekend.  So back to going on the 11th.   

Anyway, great info.  I'm hoping for snow.  One of my hunting bucket list items is hunting deer in the snow.  Looks like I may get that wish.  Hoping the rain and snow mix forecasted will be mostly snow - we are a bit higher in elevation than Colville.

Gotta be a little careful what you wish for.  I've hunted in the snow many times over the years and it can certainly be a two sided thing.  Yes, there are a lot of advantages-visibility, ability to determine fresh tracks, nice clean snow to wash your bloody hands off in as examples.  BUT, it is also takes a lot more preparation.  Obviously accessability to back roads is more difficult, deer movement can be hard to peg unless you know the area very well, trying to sneak thru crusted snow is near impossible, throwing up your gun to find your scope full of snow is very frustrating, slipping and sliding down snow covered steep hills is not fun-just to name a few.  I've found deer really don't move during a hard snow storm, but neither does your vehicle if you're out hunting while it drops a foot or so around it.  It's kinda fun at times to hunt in snow, but I can also relate a few times where it was not fun at all.  Key is to make sure you're prepared, think thru everything bad it can cause and prepare accordingly.

I'll be up near Colville around the 17th.  Looks like there will be more snow than I planned for.  Time to re-plan my gear list.

I was out yesterday checking 10 trail cams...our bucks up here haven't started scraping....yet. Won't be long. I have all my punched out deer tags from years past when I hunted for myself and most were notched  from the 15th to the 17th.

Let's hope the bucks are double checking your tags as well and start a little early this year 

Good point about being ready for the snow.  Definitely ads to the preparation, but I'm good with that.  I like the extra challenge.

The property is between Rice and Colville.  I saw a several turkey and a group of mulies near hunters last time I was there.

I'm also from Monroe 

Still not sure what date I'll be there.  But would be up for meeting somewhere to compare notes and grabbing some food or something.

I'm also in the Monroe area.  I'd be happy to meet with a local group for some food and hunt talk!
