On the hunt for elk
« on: October 14, 2017, 06:53:34 PM »
Last picture of elk that night was at 7:10 and they were all looking the direction this kitty came from. Good news is that I had 4 different bulls on cam in 3 days.

Good luck on that bull tag!

Hopefully someone's successful. Didn't buy an elk tag this year.

Naches, does that grocery store in town still take meat in the freezer overnight?

Hey Naches, are you finding bulls out in the open during hunting hours?  In all my spots the last few days, they are coming in at 7-7:30 pm and out by 5 am for dark timber parts unknown.

Haven't been out the last two days due to my truck being in the shop, but Tuesday and Wednesday in the timber, they were moving around 2-3 pm around their bedding areas and not in the open till close or after shooting hours. You'll be lucky to see them out in the open more than 2 hours after shooting light. General season should get them moving around.

I'm hoping that's the case, I'm trying to get back for the end of my permit hunt.  Even though there was very minimal pressure in most spots and really none in several, they still didn't want to be hanging around when 7 am came around.

The snow forecasted for next weekend will work in your favor.
