Wax ring on your boots
« on: November 01, 2017, 10:30:12 AM »
Saw a video of a guy using a wax ring used for seating new toilets on his hunting boots as a water proofed.  Anyone try that?

Those are just made of wax.
So, if you normally treat your boots with wax then at $5 a toilet ring would be a cheap supply.

I have used sno seal before and it is just about the same consistency of one of those toilet rings so I guess I could see that.  A can of sno seal is about the same price as a toilet ring so I don't see why you would use the ring instead.

Those wax rings are horribly sticky stuff.  I can see it waterproofing just fine, but wouldn't it cause dirt and debris to stick on your boots making them nearly impossible to clean?  Plus, anything that touched them would get sticky residue.

With all of the other low cost options, I don't know why anyone would consider this.

Seems like a giant pain in the butt. Between how sticky it is and the shape of it...just seems like it would be easier to sno seal the boots.
