Wood Stoves for house

For the life of me I can't find the Virtual Campfire thread???

I'm in Bonney Lake, not in the Tacoma Pierce restricted zone, i'm very interested in a wood stove to heat my home. Where do I shop, what do I need to know?

I don't like the tinkling lol there's something very cool.about having an actual wood fire heating your home.

I'll have my wife look up the name of the outfit we bought ours from. They did the installation and two repair calls in the first year and then bailed on the free cleaning they offered at the 12 month mark. I wouldn't recommend them

I'd start by looking up the stove shops in your area. Lots of quality brands out there. Even some of the more affordable stoves have a good reputation for functioning well with maybe less visual frills. Don't get a chinese-made stove.
The greatest stove in the world will disappoint if you feed it crap for wood. Dry wood makes all the difference.
If you Google "wood stove forums" there's 2 sites that will come up and provide you with hours of reading.

I ordered mine on line, it’s a Blaze King made in Walla Walla. Certified and efficient stove, it has been a great, bought it in 2002. I installed it myself and it’s burning at this moment.

I installed a lopi liberty in our house this year, almost to much stove for the house but man it is nice to use, heats very well and controlled, extremely well built, and they build em over in mukilteo I believe. I bought mine used off Craigslist and did the install myself, you can buy all the stuff online or in stores you’d need like pipe and flashings and the like. relatively simple for the install if a guy has a basic knowledge of framing or building construction.

If you want a free standing stove take this man's advice.
Blaze king won't let you down.
Always go one size bigger than you think you should.

How long do the new, efficient stoves keep a fire?  Can you choke it down to last 12 hours or more?

I just put a couple year old Blaze King in my house. Its a bigger stove, meant for a 2400 SF house or so. I stuffed it full and it burned for 9 hrs the other night. I woke up, opened the damper and filled it back up and it took off.

12 hrs might be a stretch...

Are you sure yours is the "King"?

They have a huge fire box, crank out a ton of heat, and are efficient.
