Athlon rifle scopes, anyone familar with them?

I had never even heard of Athlon until I saw an ad for one in a Cabelas flyer I just got in the mail...  Does anyone have any firsthand experience with them?  They have a couple I am highly interested in!

I'm on other forums that absolutely praise the Athlon scopes. Never a bad word about them. They want to be like Vortex and Leupold with fantastic warranties. If you find a dealer on a forum, I bet you can get a better deal the high priced Cableas.

I was actually planning to buy one, but decided i better save more money and get a German glass. They're made in the same factory as Vortex, Primary Arms, and stuff. Expect Vortex quality, but for almost 1/3 of cost. Their Argos BTR series are pretty much the same as Vortex PST. I heard the turret tracking is decent, but you gotta wipe off the grease there to hear positive clicks for the lower end scopes.

Cabela's has 90 day return policy and Athlon has really good lifetime warranty, you can give it a try. If you grab those 20% off Cabela's gift cards, you'll save some money.  Worst case scenario, you got 90 days to return the scope if it doesn't work as you expected.

I was thinking of the Cronus.  Cabelas is about to have a pre black friday with the Cronus being $700 off.

That's a scorching deal and I have read the Cronus holds its own with the NF & Vortex Razor. For half the money I wish I had a grand to give one a try on my Creedmoor.

I see Cabelas has the Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56 going on sale starting tomorrow, Nov. 9th-22nd, for $999.99 which is $700 off the regular price.  Don't know a thing about them but if they have really good optics and track well, that would be a beast of a scope for a long range rig and at a very affordable price for a scope like this.

They also have the Zeiss HD5 5-25x50 Z800 reticle on sale for $699 from the 9th-22nd.

I’ve got the Midas 4.5-27x50. Like everything about it except the turrets turn almost too easy. Nice audible clicks but with no zero stop I’ve found that they do move while hunting.

Got the ARES BTR 4-27 mil in August.  Looks like a great scope.  Haven't mounted it as my 7-42 finally arrived from backorder.  Any interest PM me.  Have NF rings also.
