Looks like a great trip!
Yeah, jacks taste just as good as any other rabbit, and there's a lot more too them than a cottontail.Looks like a fun hunt.
The State trapper told us last year that 1/3 of the rabbits have triganosis. He told us if we were going to skin the rabbit to wear good surgeons gloves and to be very careful. I don't know if that is a problem after they have been cooked or not. Any information on this??? We could have shot 30 Jackrabbits if we wanted too. At dusk and first dark they are everywhere.
Just got back from Montana and had a good time in the cold, snow, and wind. My son was pretty happy with his Muley buck and we shot a few Whities and another muley too! My son liked the other Montana options as you might notice in some of the pictures! I tried to get them to leave the porcupine alone but when the rancher told them he wanted them gone, My son did the deed!! Shot 16 sharptails for the crockpot too! We were planning on taking my sons big white snow jackrabbit and skinning it out, but when we went outside to skin the beast it was gone!! The feral cats had stole it and drug it under the barn. We found it the next day with 3 cats feasting away on it!
