Good luck to all the archery hunters. I don't own a bow, but will be tagging along with folks 7 out of the first 8 days of late elk.

I will b in 278 starting Monday through the 8th with my recurve in hopes of getting a mule deer. I see a fire burned a bit of desert below upper goose lk which tends to concentrate us hunters an the deer which stinks. If u see a guy in his late 40s with a recurve, its me. Im friendly, and cooperative if you want to work together.

Scouted some at crab crk, but the deer r fewer an the walking more.

Hope to camp a bit at either Long lk or Susan lk during m.y hunt.

Gonna try to get our for a few days on the W side but I'm taking Mrs. Wapiti in for a MED procedure tomorrow morning early and need to take care of her for a bit till she's up, moving, and her normal ornery self.  If she's doing well in a handful of days, she'll force me to "get out", literally

Not a lot of choices near Vancouver for weekend hunting, Ryderwood, Willapa Hills. Will probably ride around smoking cigars and drinking coffee, like the hardcore hunter I am!
