Collector,
"75% of cameras disappear because of bears". That's an interesting opinion, but based on what I've seen, and have had happen, I would say it's closer to 1%, with the other 99% being X%$%#! thieves! I run a lot of the very noisy Scout Guard SG565's, and the bears usually can't stand them.
I run a lot of cameras, with 18-20 being out at one given time, and I've only lost (2) because of bears. I've had quite a few mauled, punctured, chewed, but only a few that I actually never found, and that I knew was a bear. All of the rest are from pieces of shizzit, that should have their hands broken, tires shot and anything else to stop them. I can no longer use them in a couple areas for big blacktails. because of these individuals.
I don't run boxes, cables or locks. Just straps. The old Cuddie Pro's were big, and used a screw in the frame, and I loved that set up. I will say that I don't place my camera's in areas where people usually go, but I did lose one this past year up near Coweeman Lake. I couldn't believe it was gone, as it's a long walk where it was at. Either way it sucked, and it was one of my Reconyx 500's, so it was a expensive loss also.
Either way, THIEVES SUCK !
