Roadkill Dog Food
« on: November 20, 2017, 06:15:56 PM »
Spent Saturday making our first 2017 batch. Ended up with 150lbs.
PS; it takes a looooong  time to brown that much deer grind.

Venison, Scrambled eggs(including shells), Sweet potatoes, oats, acorn squash, pumpkin, green beans, peas, carrots, are all we put in it. At feeding time a small scoop of vitamin supplements are sprinkled on top.

One of our Labs has fairly severe allergies, so these are the foods that are best for her....does great on them.

Have you considered doing raw meat instead of cooking it? A friend of ours does raw dog food, grinding chicken bones and all. We're considering making the switch too.

Looking good, and like a lot of work. My Chessie had some allergies so I switched to a raw diet supplemented with grain free. If your dog will eat raw you can get a lot more minerals and vitamins out of your meat. But obviously wouldn't want to feed bear or pork that way....
When the buffalo are gone we will hunt mice, for we are hunters and we want our freedom-Sitting Bull

Saving money and a healthier/happier pet is great.

I've made my own cat food using raw rabbit (bones too), eggs, minerals, chicken (cooked), vitamins. We use it in conjunction with a dietary canned food.

Very satisfying
