Hunting gaiters

Thanks everyone!!  I saw some kentreks at sportsmans the other day but they seemed loud. Are they similar to the kuiu as far as material style?

I don’t worry about the noise. My outdoor research ar very similar to the kenetrek that you like & they’ve never cost me an animal. This elk season I was within 50’ of 20 elk & they didn’t pay me any mind at all.

I have the Kenetreks and they have worked well.  My complaint with them is that they don't stay up very well anymore.  My buddy switched to Kuiu this year because he had the same issue and says that they don't fall down like the Kenetreks.  I would give the Kuiu a try .

Ill add another vote to the outdoor research crocodiles. I ordered them after reading all the reviews about how tough and long lasting they were, and that's what I wanted more than anything. Wore them out a few times in pretty crappy weather and they did exactly as they are supposed to. Couldn't be happier.

I've got two years out of Kuiu, prob will need to get a new pair for next season but I would say them or OR gaiters are the best out there

Thanks again for all of the feedback.   I think I'm going to ask Santa for the crocodiles.  Hopefully the snow doesn't ball up on the bottom like my cabelas ones did.

I can tell you with reasonable certainty that that doesn’t happen.

If the strap is coated that goes underneath your boots the snow won't stick. I've had that happen with other gaiters, won't happen with the ones your looking at

Anyone tried FL? I'm kind of in the market for new ones. I'm not sure I'm interested in the "quiet" ones since they pick up Houndstongue from 3/4 of a mile away. I have a set of King's that I had to buy in a pinch and I'm not interested in spreading that crap around.

Looking at the rest of the usual suspects as well. Just wondering if anyone used these yet.

If you're not concerned with noise, get some OR Crocs. They're the best I've ever seen. They are noisy.

I'm on my second pair of Kenetreks, which seem to me like sort of a softer fabric clone of OR.  I like them though after two or three seasons the seams have come apart and mine are duct taped inside.  I wear them a LOT, all Fall plus predator hunting all winter, picking berries in summer dew and rain.  Gaiters take a beating in wet brush.

For quiet, wear gaiters inside quiet pants.  I prefer thin wool dress pants that shed light rain.  Wearing pants outside gaiters also deflects water from wicking down inside the gaiter tops, and down into the tops of socks and boots.  I let the lower pant leg get wet but socks, boots and feet stay dry, and movement is still quiet.  For best protection in serious rain, I wear gaiters inside rain pants.  Feet stay really dry and warm.
