Yamaha outboard motor info.

I bought a Yamaha 15 hp. 4 stroke motor in 2012. It has a "flush" connection for the garden hose to flush the motor. My question is does it supply sufficient water to cool the motor for operation out of the water? I think I remember it does not supply any water to the lower end so you should not run in gear at all.
Any Yamaha experts here?

It is only to flush the crud out not to “run” the motor
