winch and bumper

  Can a guy put a electric winch (8000) and bumper on a newer truck for like $2000.00? I am sure you can spend a lot more, but a workable rig that looks at least OK.

Some people will disagree with me, but I've had good, serviceable experience with my $300 Badlands winch from Harbor Freight.

That leaves quite a bit for your bumper.

Movin bumpers out of Montana makes an interesting DIY kit for most full sized rigs. You just access to a good welder.

I have not used thier kits but made a similar one from JCR for my Cherokee.

If you can weld, and have/access to one it will save you a bunch of $

I wheel often and have lots of experience with winches. Buy a warn VR series winch, You won't be sorry.
very good price and it a Warn. I picked up My son a warn VR 8000 for $600 new online. If You want to step up a notch get a M8000. They last for ever. You want it to work when You need it. 
As for Bumpers Try Bad land Bumpers in Ravensdale. They can build You what ever You want for a fair price. Ask for Cody. Tell Him one of the washington wet wheelers set You.

I think a badlands I ok for light use.  I've burnt one up and used my current one a bit.  If your going to work it often and hard buy a warn as big as you can. You should go 1.5x as much as your rig weighs so you likely need a 10-12k lbs for a full size.

My badlands on a removable recover works on my Cherokee  and trailer loading dead vehicles and such. Just make sure you add a extra deal of cable, snatch block and web strap for strapping off trees.

These are great deals on a quality winch, If You need to go cheaper than this You should look into a come along and a bunch of cable.

It looks like if you have access to a welder you can have a sweet bumper and a Warn for a little over a Grand! Well within your budget! Enough extra for some good tire chains and recovery gear!

Try Schrockworks for bumpers  You might get a front and rear for $1600.  Look at ENGO for winches too.  They are someone of an offshoot of Mile Marker (founder of ENGO is the son of the founder of Mile Marker).  I think my 8500 with synthetic line was under $400 online .

 If you have a Tacoma, there are a ton of bumper options out there with good price points compared to other rigs.  Jeeps are the cheapest options, because of volume, but Tacoma are second.
