I don't know what they do for handicapped hunters but I do know that the area prince of whales is in is draw tag only for out of state black bear hunters. I'm pretty sure just about any outfitter would be able to do a setup for a wheelchair as long as you draw the tag. They aren't cheap hunts either but they have some true giants on prince of whales and on the island that the city of Ketchikan is on. When the wife and I were living in Ketchikan we would go down to the creek leading into the fish hatchery and see the bears. I nicknamed one Fatty mcfatcakes. His whole body jiggled when he walked, didn't have a neck, and was bigger around than a 55 gallon drum! Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for!

you don't have to draw if you go with a guide

Funny... I have contacted at least 4 guides in that area and asked them about the tags. They all said I would have to draw the tag.

to the OP. You have a price limit? Some of the guides up there have access to glacier color phase bears! They are expensive but BEAUTIFUL bears!

Ate you fully confined to the wheelchair?  Would you be driving your own vehicle?  The spring hunt would be better for you.  You can drive clear cuts around the island.  Lots of bears in the fall, but you usually have to get down to the rivers somehow.  I'm not sure if Alaska has any special rules for handicapped hunters shooting from the road.  You have to be in by the 15th of this month if you want to hunt next year

Well I stand corrected on the fully guided hunts even though I was told otherwise. The self guided hunts though, you will have to draw a tag. There are several outfitters in SE Alaska that you can pay $1500-$2000 for a week of lodging and meals. You will have to draw the tags for the self guided even though you are staying at a lodge. I have talked to Calder Mountain lodge and Coffman Cove adventures about their self guided hunts. They seem to be pretty awesome setups but idk about wheelchairs. Could message them and ask!
