headed out this weekend (waterfowl)
« on: December 01, 2017, 01:58:19 PM »
Anyone headed out this weekend for birds? I was hoping to get out and scout this afternoon but too much work to get done before dark so hoping one of my spots at least turns up a few birds. Not expecting much with the weather and amount of open water but most importantly not being able to scout.

I'll be headed out, at least for the morning.

I'll be headed north. Bird numbers are in the toilet and will remain there until we get some cold weather.

I'll be out in the morning here on the west side. Mostly just scouting out a new spot. Lots of ducks and geese in the area though, but they're pretty wary. I think they've figured out where they're safe and where they're not.

I think I'm going to my field in the Auburn valley....... where the geese have been safe all season so far.     :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

I've only been out twice this year, since we didn't go until deer/elk seasons were over. Both times never fired a shot. Hoping for a little better luck tomorrow but not counting on it. These birds seem to be very well educated!

If you get in where the birds are spending time you will do fine.  I had a good hunt on Friday and judging by the shots ringing out all around me so did others, plenty of birds available on publicly accessible property in places.  I moved probably less than 5 miles from Thursday to Friday and went from seeing 2 to being in the thick of it.
