ps they are very picky biters on the chehalis from what ive seen. the one i caught hit for about 20minutes before finally picking the bait up and swimming with it.

got a few other hits that night that went on for around 10-30minutes. but they wouldnt pick it up long enough to get the hook set

Learning new things every day, didn't know that river had Sturgeon....  Hmmmmmm, is it accessible by boat????  Might have to see about exploring there, one heck of lot closer and something new...

yeah you can fish it from a boat. i know a few guys who do good. just find the deeper holes and fish around them on incoming high tides.

i personaly caught mine at low outgoing tide...

do ya do anygood in the daytime,

ive only fished it a few times. 6 to be exact and this is the first one ive caught and the first trip where ive actually gotten any bites that i know were sturgeon. it was the first one ive ever caught from shore in general anywhere including the the columbia.

i guess its just a tide game. best is incoming high/slack tide. BUT to be honest we didnt get a single bite till outgoing tide. it was like they were migrating down the river and all the sudden we were getting hit good for about 3 hours. then it just turned off till incoming tide. and once the water for to about the same level as when i got mine earlier they started biting again.

i have fished ut a few times. my buddy has always done ok from friends landing. i caught a 54" there a few summers ago. there are so damn many squawfish they peck at your bait constantly.
i met a fish checker there at the launch one day when i was pulling my boat out. he told me the tribe nets for springers with nets on the bottom {quite often} to get sturgeon "bi-catch". they make more per pound for sturg. then salmon he said. they guestimated that they caught 8-12k sturgeon from may -july that year. the chehalis was killer about 15 years ago but  is hit or miss now.

i haven't checked the net schedule in a few weeks but i thought they were still netting 5 or 6 days a week .

the chehalis rocks for sturgeon. i catch alot of fish on the chehalis i put in at friends landing and run about four miles down river to a few holes i found. from there it's fish on. go to youtube and in the search bar type in chehalis river i got a fish on video from the chehalis a buddy of mine hooked. about six to eight feet.
