i got the snohomish river system figured out...at least in my mind. i know all the slots, and deep holes, and which areas are better then others.

i just need to figure out someone to get out with lol

also the huge key in getting fish in the snoho, stilly is the learn to fish the mouth in the salt. thats the big trick i guess.

as for the chehalis...i know the secret bait  8) ill sell the secret for 1billion dollars.  :chuckle:

I fished the mouth then went out around towards Stanwood in the salt water when the tide got right.....supposed to be the best spot. Had crabs stealing most the bait....got to hit the tides just right. Need to get out with my buddy who knows the spots....We talked about it and he told me the general area two years ago...

a 38.25 at the fork would still be at least 42 at the tail.. same size fish

well if the regs were still 42" i wouldnt have been legal. the tail was messed up. and the measuring to the tip of the tail has killed alot of legal sturgeon for me. its crazy the amount you catch that look amazingly perfect then you look at the tail and it looks like they got in a fight with a weed whacker

Damn seals chew the tail,,,I wish the size restriction was 50 to 60 inches. There is 3 times the meat on a fat 50 incher over a 42 incher.
Did that new 38-54 fork measurement pass here on the west side?

I agree the 38 still comes out to a 42 out of all the fish so far we measured this year, or real, real, real close.  Haven't gotten one yet with a chewed up upper tail... :dunno:

Something I made that makes measuring easier.... I took a piece of PVC schedule 40 and measured it, then with perm marker put 38, 41, and of course the other end 54 on it, it makes the quick measuring test, really quick and if it is extremely close then the tape gets brought out, but it has worked really good so far...  And it floats..

personally for me any fish under 45 in goes back anyway so a fish IMO "worth" keeping would be legal messed up tail or not, Unless its ungodly fat a 42-44 in fish does not give you enough meat after your done with it to kill it. IMO

Let's see some pic's always up for some Sturgeon pictures.....

I'll dig out some when I get to work tomorrow.  These will have to do for now.  My sons at Bonneville Dam this afternoon on the way home from Portland.  Couldn't get the little guy to look at the camera, mesmerized by the fish...

Right at the exit.  Instead of going to the fish ladder visitor area, go left.  There is a little gift shop, a bunch of hatchery pens, a bunch of trout ponds that will make you cry, and a sturgeon pond with an underground viewing area.  The big guy is "Herman".  75 years old, 10 ft long, 400+ lbs.  Pretty cool.
Here are some pics of my sister, brother in law and I sturgeon fishing below Bonneville a couple of years ago.  Of course the biggest fish was my sister's.  We had to hang on to her to get it in.. she's only about 105lbs.  Fish was just under 7 ft.
